The year 2009 was like a gust of wind that has brought along tons of new girls groups, but whose hand will MAMA (no pun intended but that’s the acronym) hold now?

Major Korean music channel Mnet has announced that their Mnet Korean Music Festival (MKMF) will now be renamed as Mnet Asian Music Awards (MAMA)!

Mnet announced on October 23 that the live broadcast will change its concept and the way they will handle how people may vote for which artist wins the award.

Mnet also announced that Park Ji Yoon, SG Wannabe’s Kim Yong Jun and Lee Seok Hoon will become the new MC’s of the event.

Mnet is planning on handing out the “Rookie Female Group Award,” to the following nominees: 2NE1, 4minute, After School, f(x), and last but not least, T-ara.

Having seen the five groups show up suddenly and made a comet-like impact upon the K-Pop world, many are extremely curious as to who will MAMA choose to be the rookie female group of the year.

The live broadcast of the 2009 MAMA will take place on November 21 at Seoul’s Jamsil Stadium. People that live outside of Korea, don’t give your hopes up yet, because there’s a reason why MAMA is titled MAMA! Via Channel V International, the event will be broadcasted in China, Japan, Hong Kong, Southeast Asia and Thailand.

The special main event will be the “Global Artist Award.” In addition, another major change is that the Trot genre will be added on along with the other Pop music awards.

There will be a total of 7 categories of artists, 7 categories of genres, and 2 categories of music video nominations during the event. In addition, there will be a total of 30 awards for each nominated song.

People may start voting on October 23, 2009 through the Mnet homepage.

Super Junior’s Comeback next March

SM’s 13-member group Super Junior will be back in Korea for their new album next March after their last album ‘Don’t Don’t’ released in September 2007.

Super Junior leader Lee Teuk announced on SBS Gayo DaeJeon on 29th December, “We are in the midst of recording for our new album. The album is set to come next March.”
He also stated, “I’ve waited very long for all the members to get together and do activities together” and “I want the new album to come out quickly so that we can stand on stage.”

After their 2nd album, Super Junior released 2 unique groups Super Junior M and Super Junior Happy. This album will have Super Junior member back in to the main group again after 1 year and 6 months. Super Junior M will also end their activities by end-January in China.

Collaborations in Mirotic ver. C

Ahra and Super Junior have come to meet with TVXQ in a the special ‘MIROTIC’ album that will be released on December 4th. On this special edition, Youngwoong Jaejoong’s ‘Don’t Cry Love,’ and Micky Yoochun’s ‘Love Goodbye Love,’ with a total of 4 new songs will be included.

Micky Yoochun’s ‘Love Goodbye Love’ is a medium tempo song that expresses the emotion of pain due to love. Actress Ahra will be doing the narration for this song.

Additionally, a different song called ‘Wish’ will be sung by Xiah Junsu and Choikang Changmin, along with Super Junior members Ryeowook and Kyuhyun for a total of four people singing the song together. The four singers with different colors will come together making a beautiful harmony.

so..

but! the currency converter online said that 40,000 KRW = MYR 98.00, so.. its equals to MYR 100 like that..

‘A Star’s Friend’ Idol Special

Idol group members stage a confrontation as they make their appearances on the variety show, ‘Introducing A Star’s Friend.’

On the November 1st broadcast of MBC’s ‘Introducing A Star’s Friend’ Super Junior’s Eun Hyuk & Shin Dong, FT Island’s Lee Hong Ki and 2PM’s Hwang Chan Sung appeared respectively and made their single friends sweat.

Super Junior’s charisma, Eun Hyuk came out with his friend ‘for H’ who’s a ‘Song Seung Heon Look Alike,’ a marine officer with a muscular build and made famous on Shin Dong’s minihompy where he has his own folder. 2PM’s Hwang Chan Sung came with his extremely charming friend who wore a smile and from whom you couldn’t take your eyes away.

FT Island’s pin-up vocal, Lee Hong Ki accompanied his handsome friend who was the spitting image of Kang Dong Won, not only in the way he towered over but his behavior as well.

그룹 동방신기가 금연 캠페인의 주제곡인 금연송 뮤직 비디오의 주인공으로 낙점됐다.

동방신기는 보건복지가족부가 진행하고 있는 2008 금연 공익캠페인 ‘세이 노, 세이브 라이프’(Say No, Save Life) 뮤직비디오의 마지막 주자로 나서게 됐다.

보건복지가족부는 지금까지 ‘세이노(Say-No) 금연송’ 뮤직비디오 시리즈에 국내 신세대 가수의 참여를 이끌어내며 금연에 대한 젊은 층의 자각을 일깨우는데 주력해 왔다.

금연송 뮤직비디오에는 그룹 슈퍼주니어를 첫 주자로 원더걸스, V.O.S, 에픽하이, 다비치, 서인영, 샤이니, 남규리, 빅뱅, 쿨, 신혜성, F.T 아일랜드, 카라, 2PM, 브라운아이드걸스 등이 출연해 왔으며 실제로 금연에 대한 관심도를 높이는데 성공을 거뒀다.

보건복지가족부는 “연예인을 통한 금연 캠페인은 청소년에게 간접흡연의 위험성을 알리고 메시지를 효과적으로 전달할 수 있다.”며 “이들은 청소년 층의 큰 공감대를 형성하는 데 기여한 바가 크다.”고 설명했다.

The Beatles Reborn?

Super Junior members Kang In and Hee Chul aimed to reproduce a perfect replica of the legendary rock group, Beatles.

Together with Trax members, Jay and Jung Mo, they transformed into the world famous rock group on the first broadcast of Mnet’s ‘Band Of Brothers’ airing on October 25th. They performed dressed exactly like the Beatles, right down to the straight bangs and trademark black attire.

With their public performance, they also revealed their transformed looks with Kang In transforming into Paul McCartney, Hee Chul as Ringo Star, Jay as John Lennon and Jung Mo as George Harrison.

Kang In, Hee Chul, Jay, and Jung Mo have in fact known each other as friends for over 6 years and have been very close therefore the Beatles was the ideal fit.

Dong Bang Shin Gi who recently made their comeback with their 4th album, ‘Spell (MIROTIC)’ talked about the connections they’ve made in the entertainment world.

On KBS Cool FM, “Super Junior’s Kiss The Radio” on the 29th of September, Dong Bang Shin Gi had their first radio broadcast since their comeback.

On that day, DJ Lee Teuk and Eun Hyuk asked Micky Yoochun, “We know which Dong Bang Shin Gi member has the biggest feet [but] how many phone numbers of entertainment stars do you have?” To which, Micky Yoochun answered with a 28. Some of the people they contact often include SS501’s Hyun Joong, Epik High’s Tablo and Lee Hyori.

And when asked about the connections of other members, Xiah Junsu expressed, “We’ve been active for 6 years now but our connections are really very limited.”

On the day of the broadcast, as many as 80, 000 people listened and participated on the radio’s notice boards.
